My life has always been accompanied by music. I grew up listening to the radio and watching music videos on cable TV. In high school, I listened to alternative rock, new wave, industrial, and underground dance music. In college, I started listening to jambands and seeing live music on a regular basis. I have attended over a thousand live concerts by a diverse range of bands and musicians in venues of all sizes from bars and theaters to arenas and stadiums.
I went to my first Grateful Dead concert in the summer of 1990. I went on to see 43 Grateful Dead concerts and 8 Jerry Garcia Band concerts. I have seen many of their post GD project through the years including: The Other Ones, The Dead, Furthur, Fare Thee Well, Dead & Company, Bob Weir & RatDog, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Terrapin Family Band, and many more.
Some of the other bands I have seen live repeated times over the years are: Twiddle, David Nelson Band, Phish, String Cheese Incident, moe., ekoostik hookah, and Sound Tribe Sector Nine.
My other favorite bands include: James, Foo Fighters, The Smiths, The Go-Betweens, Keane, The Stone Roses, Crowded House, Beulah, Depeche Mode, Yazoo, New Order, Joy Division, Durutti Column, King Crimson, and Frank Zappa.
I live in Berkeley with my wife, Jeannette. I have been in the San Francisco Bay Area since 2000. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio.
